Preuss | Foster Law secured a $900,000 settlement for a client who suffered severe, permanent injuries when an at-fault driver failed to yield while making a left turn in Leawood, Kansas.
Our client sustained fractures to his sternum, ribs, heel, and ankle, requiring months of hospitalization and inpatient rehabilitation. Prior to the crash, he was active and fully independent. Today, he can no longer drive, walk without assistance, or live on his own, and is transitioning to a senior living community.
Our co-counsel handled the underlying third-party claim against the at-fault driver and then asked our firm to assist with recovery under the client’s underinsured motorist coverage claim. After nearly a year of negotiating with the underinsured motorist coverage carrier, including providing them expert medical witness statements and a day-in-the-life video of the impact the crash had on our client, the carrier agreed to fairly compensate our client.
The settlement compensates our client for the extensive medical treatment and loss of independence caused by the collision that the liable parties’ insurance coverage did not provide.
