$300,000 Defective Hip Implant Litigation

Settlement for defective hip implant

Our client underwent total hip replacement surgery in 2014. In June 2022, while simply changing clothes, our client felt a sudden pop in his left hip, resulting in the inability to bear weight on the left side. Subsequent hospital visits and X-rays confirmed a complete fracture of the prosthetic hip implant.

Following medical advice, our client underwent a procedure (“revision surgery”) to replace the fractured device. Revision surgeries of any prosthetic orthopedic device are particularly gruesome. In this case, our client endured nearly nine hours under anesthesia during which time surgeons had to dislocate and reduce his injured hip three times. The fracture of the device, coupled with the surgical complexities, necessitated intensive physical therapy and subsequent revision surgeries. Consequently, our client endured unwarranted pain, debilitation and prolonged hospitalization.

The alleged product defect with this hip implant is the fracturing of one of the component parts, known as the femoral neck. The femoral neck component is known to suddenly fracture while patients are going about routine, everyday life. This leaves patients unable to walk and in need of emergency surgery.

People like our client go to their doctors for hip implants with the hope of improving their lives. When there is a defect in the implant, the opposite happens.

If you have experienced a fractured prosthetic hip or any of the symptoms or complications described, it is crucial to seek medical attention promptly. Early intervention can mitigate further damage and improve outcomes. Additionally, you may be entitled to specific legal remedies or compensation due to potential defects in the affected components.
